Webmin - change user password

I'm a long-time fan of Webmin, however, today I encountered an interesting issue where post-Webmin install, the IP address of the server was changed. This created a situation where I couldn't log into Webmin at all.

A little research lead me to the "changepass.pl" file. I ending up finding this file on my system in the /usr/local/webmin directory. Most online help lists it in a different directory. Syntax is as follows:

./changepass.pl $WEBMIN_DIR $USER $NEW_PASSWORD

for example -
cd /usr/local/webmin
./changepass.pl /etc/webmin root secretword

Transferring PuTTY settings

if you're like me, you spend plenty of time in PuTTY. Basically, couldn't live without it! Anyway, when recently migrating to a new laptop, I ran into the issue of wanting to transfer my saved sessions from my old laptop to my new one. A little research led me to the wonders of the Windows Registry.

Using your source machine, drill down to My Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software. There you should see a SimonTatham directory. Right-click and export this entire key out to your local machine. Transfer this file to your destination machine, right-click to Merge these entries to your new registry. That's it!

adadmin - Error calling adptaskStoreInfoToSessAttr

the other day I hit this error while trying to place the system into Maintenance mode. A search on Metalink confirmed that the problem was a missing environment variable. The PLATFORM variable was missing.

I issued the following command "PLATFORM=LINUX; export PLATFORM" and voila, problem fixed.

Discoverer patch 4960210 (10.1.2.2 AS)

This patch offers significant new functionality to Oracle OLAP users. The patch application for Discoverer components was straightforward on a RedHat ES 3.0 box. Nothing too special. Here are a few screenshots:

Projects - Update PA Calendar

Similar to Oracle Financials, the PA Calendar's need to be maintained. Adding holidays and other corporate events is as easy as:

1) go to Project Billing Super User
2) open Setup : System : Scheduling Calendar -> Define Exceptions
3) add your corporate holidays, etc.

4) open Setup : System : Scheduling Calendar -> Assign Shifts/Exceptions
5) find appropriate calendar & add the appropriate exceptions
